GENERAL MANAGER

San Antonio Flower Company is a European-style flower market offering the highest quality cut flowers, greenery, foliage, and blooming plants in the San Antonio area. We also carry floral supplies such as foam, paint, vases, moss, and cut flower food, and offer wholesale pricing to qualified businesses and individuals.
We’re seeking a dynamic, hands-on General Manager to lead our team and drive the daily success of our retail flower store. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional customer experiences. This position is a hands-on position. You will work closely alongside the Managing Partner and the team to ensure the business runs smoothly and successfully every day. You will be expected to wear many hats as we have an all hands-on deck approach.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • - Assist in interviewing and hiring qualified candidates
  • - Foster a positive, collaborative, and motivating workplace culture
  • - Lead by example in providing exceptional customer service
  • - Communicates expectations to the team in a humble, clear, and detailed manner
  • - Forms strong working relationships within team and treats each other with respect
  • - Leads by example and models expected behaviors
  • - Effectively trains and develops employees for current and future positions.
  • - Creates and maintains an open-door inclusive policy with employees.
  • Addresses employee relations issues within 24 hours of occurrence.

Store Operations

  • - Open and close the store as scheduled
  • - Unpack and process fresh flower shipments
  • - Receive, verify, and organize inventory
  • - Maintain clean, organized, attractive cooler, display, and plant areas
  • - Creates work schedules for employees, weekly
  • - Delegates duties to employees and follows up to ensure thorough execution
  • - Ensures departments are staffed for excellence
  • - Communicates operational changes to employees, as needed
 

Marketing & Promotion

  • - Work with team to create and execute local marketing initiatives to drive traffic
  • - Develop engaging social media content to promote store offerings and events
  • - Update and maintain product listings on the company website

Customer Engagement

  • - Work with customers on large or custom floral orders
  • - Promote a service-first mindset throughout the team
  • - Ensure each customer has a positive and memorable experience
  • -Assist in store customers to ensure we exceed their expectations

Product & Buying Support

  • - Work closely with the fresh and hardgoods buyer to maintain product quality and selection
  • - Learn and assist with the buying process
  • - Collaborate on the development of new and exciting products

Management & Compliance

  • - Ensures compliance with all employment laws, company policies, guidelines and procedures and partners with leadership, 100% of the time
  • - Monitors productivity metrics to set goals and provide feedback, quarterly

Qualifications

  • - Previous retail or restaurant management experience preferred
  • -2 plus years of leadership experience
  • -Have a valid driver’s license.
  • - Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • - Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • - Basic knowledge of inventory and receiving processes
  • - Comfortable using social media platforms and basic website management tools
  • - Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to recognize and solve problems
  • Ability to manage all dealings in a professional, courteous manner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to accept feedback and willingness to improve
